Making Quality Control a Breeze at Sikorsky

We reimagined the quality control processes utilized by Sikorsky in the assembly of their helicopters. Analog processes were digitized and automated, greatly reducing user error and redundancy. The experience incorporated an iPad application for data entry and form generation. The visual design employed skeuomorphic elements, which mimicked the physical forms and tasks seasoned inspectors were accustomed to seeing. Scanning technology was incorporated on the shop floor to ascribe part numbers quickly and easily, as 80% of the parts used in assembly already contained QR codes. User error was reduced by over 80% within six months of implementation.
